Did you ever try duck in a pancake? In Beijing you have the world-famous dish: Peking Duck. It has been prepared since ages. It’s a luxurious delicacy. The ducks are specially bred for the restaurants. The ducks only live for 65 days and are seasoned before being roasted. It takes a long process to deliver succulent and tasty meat on the plates of enjoying costumers. The animals were bred in Nanjing originally. It’s a special kind of duck: ‘Anas platyrhynchos domestica’. You taste that it is different meat than you are used to.

It is an obligation whenever you visit Beijing: you have to try the Peking duck! The bittersweet taste will let you enjoy China in a way you did not do before. The Peking duck is a deepening of the authentic Chinese culture. It’s not just duck with chips or potatoes, the way of serving makes it extra special. As said, you eat the duck it in a pancake. You fill the pancake with duck, scallion, cucumber and sweet bean sauce. The skin is dipped in sugar and garlic sauce.

As everyone knows about China, they have special manners for dining. Burping after diner is considered polite. Unless the Peking duck isn’t a cheap street dish, but served in fancy restaurants, you still eat it with your hands. Bon appétit! or 北京填鸭 !
