If you devoured the Harry Potter books and films, you must visit the Harry Potter film studios in London. It is the perfect opportunity to bring up memories and to follow in the footsteps of the young wizard. The starting point of the tour is of course platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross station where you can take a ride in the Hogwarts Express.
When you arrive at Hogwarts you can step into the office of Albus Dumbledore and discover his hidden treasures. Back in London, you can walk on the cobbles of Diagon Alley. You also get an image on how different creatures from the movie were brought to life with special effects, like Dobby and the dementors. But that's not all! During the tour, you can also visit the Gryffindor common room, the boys' dormitory, Hagrid's hut and the office of Dolores Umbridge at the Ministry of Magic. And you can see the incredible scale model of Hogwarts used for exterior shots in the movies. The Harry Potter experience is not complete if you haven’t flown on a broom thanks to magical computer graphics. After all this walking (and flying!) it’s time for a Butter Beer and some Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.
The tour takes about three hours, but if you want to explore Hogwarts at your own pace there are also audio guides available. It’s essential to book your trip to Hogwarts several days or even a few weeks in advance.
