If you go to Glasgow, you should definitely take a look at the neighborhood the West End. This is the unofficial cultural heart of Glasgow with museums, boutiques, nice restaurants, the beautiful university, the park and much more. Each year West End has it own festival in June, the West End Festival, which has quickly become one of Scotland's largest arts festivals.

Must See

Kelvingrove Museum

The nice thing about the museums in the UK is that they are usually free. That’s also the case with the impressive Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow. The nice thing about this museum is that the collections are very diverse. They have a fantastic selection of art ranging from Van Gogh to Matisse to Dali. But you can also see stuffed animals, weapons from the earlier times, modern art, et cetera. So there is something for everyone! The museum has a serious collection, but keeps it accessible through the fun facts alongside the paintings.

Botanical Garden

The Botanical Gardens in Kelvingrove Park are wonderful to see. It is both a scientific institution as a tourist attraction. The gardens are in a beautiful glass greenhouse. In every room there is something else to admire. You have a room with all orchids, one with carnivorous plants, one with succulents, one tropical plants et cetera. It's the perfect romantic place to walk around.

Must Experience

Stroll around Ashton Lane

It's lovely to just stroll through West End to spot nice bars and shops. A street that you should not miss is Ashton Lane This is the nicest street in the West End, where it is perfect to settle down for a pint of lager. In the side streets of this road you’ll find some crazy vintage shops where you won’t know where to look

Food at Old Salty's

If you're in the UK, you have to eat fish and chips. One of the most famous spots in West End is Old Salty's. This is a cool trendy restaurant where you eat the best fish and chips for a good price. The strange thing is that you also can eat pizza here, which also looks really good.
